Community Council Meeting Minutes

Date: March 4, 2026

Meeting held at  the MES Faculty Room at 1:00 PM

 

Attendance: Heidi Stilson, Fawntell Mogel, David Ipson, Rene Barlow, Kenyon Ward, Megan Fawcett, Tresa Hanks, Heather Pyper

1. Approval of Previous Minutes

Heidi made a motion to approve the February 2026 meeting minutes. A vote was taken and the motion passed unanimously.

2. Review of Testing Schedule

  • Science (Grades 4–5): Second week of April
  • Writing (Grades 4–5): Third week of April
  • Reading (Grades 3–5): Last week of April
  • Math and Acadience (Grades 3–5): First week of May

3. 2026–2027 School Trust Lands Plan Discussion

The council agreed to focus on one primary goal for the 2026–2027 school year.

Goal: Students attending Manti Elementary will demonstrate growth in reading and math during the 2026–2027 school year. At least 80% of students will show typical, above typical, or well above typical growth in reading and math by May 28, 2027, as measured by Acadience assessment data.

Proposed Action Steps:

  • Hire paraprofessionals for targeted reading and math interventions based on Acadience data ($56,251.81).
  • Purchase Really Great Reading curriculum ($2,000).
  • Purchase SIPPS 5th Edition Reading Intervention ($7,500).
  • Purchase Acadience Learning Online assessment tools ($450).
  • Purchase supplemental software licenses including Lexia, IXL, and ALEKS ($1,500).
  • Purchase Reflex and Frax math program license ($4,800).
  • Purchase Xtra Math fluency program ($500).
  • Purchase iPads for reading and math interventions ($5,000).
  • Purchase projectors and document cameras compatible with the school technology system ($6,000).
  • Provide professional development for staff focused on reading and math ($8,000).

Total Planned Expenditures: $91,501.81 (Estimated Budget)

Approval

Rene made a motion to approve the 2026–2027 School Trust Lands Plan. Heidi seconded the motion. A vote was taken and the motion passed unanimously.

Council members reviewed and signed the Community Council signature page confirming participation for the year.

Adjournment

Heather Pyper made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Fawntell seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously and the meeting was adjourned.
